"I really couldn't recommend Glen more. He got to my property super quick and was able to get me in without having to change my locks. He didn't try to add on any extras which I didn't need (i.E changing the locks) and his prices were very fair. Being a single young lady I felt very comfortable around him, and I would have no problems calling him out to my property late at night if I were locked out. A*"
Miss Hayley Thomas - Customer In Chelmsford
"A client reported that her front door lock was not working, which meant she was locked out of the house. I reported this to LockRite and within the day, they organised a time with the client. They stuck to this time and called after the job was done with full explanation of the issue and it was resolved there and then. Price quoted was the price that was paid. Simple payment, highly reliable and would recommend for this company to be used again. Thank you!"

Now Autumn is upon us and it gets darker earlier it’s time to make sure you have the best security to keep the burglars at bay. It’s easy to think a lock is a lock but Burglars know an EASY TARGET when they see it. Also are you aware that having the wrong lock could invalidate your insurance should you become a victim of burglary.
Nobody wants to come home to find they have been burgled. So what steps can you take to make sure your doors and windows are not EASY TARGETS for the common thief.
Burglars are using a method called ‘Lock Snapping’ to break into doors with Euro Cylinder locks in them. It’s a quick and surprisingly quiet method of attack and is becoming all too common. This was featured on the BBC's Crimewatch Roadshow earlier this year such is the level of seriousness of this type of attack.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You can upgrade your current Euro Cylinders for TS007 3* Kitemarked cylinders. These cylinders hold the highest current security standards available. Ring today to discuss upgrading your Euro Cylinders.
If you have a timber door with the more traditional locking products i.e a Nightlatch and Mortice lock. Then does your Nightlatch have a deadlock facility to prevent ‘slipping’ and does your door have a working Mortice lock that meets the current British Standard (BS3621 2007). Does your door have a Mortice lock at all? Many timber doors don’t have a Mortice lock fitted at all and many more have an old one which doesn’t work.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
If you don’t have a Mortice lock or your current lock isn’t up to the BS3621 2007 standard then call today for a fixed price quote to supply and fit a British Standard, Insurance Approved lock.
Whether you have UPVC, Aluminium or Wooden windows most Insurers will require you to have key lockable handles to meet their requirements. Do you have the keys for your current window handles?
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You can replace your handles for key lockable ones or there are secondary security products which can be fitted to bring your windows up to insurance standards or enhance the security you already have.
I’M NOT SURE WHAT LOCKS I HAVE, WHAT CAN I DO?
If you are in any doubt as to whether your locks meet the current Insurance standards then call 07792 626383 now and speak to me direct. I can advise and there is NO CALL OUT CHARGE to check your properties security.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT…
Contents Insurance cover can range from £25k to £150k so when you consider the value of the possessions you’re protecting, not forgetting sentimental value, new locks are not expensive. The saying ‘prevention is better than cure’ is very true especially when it comes to your homes’ security. The peace of mind that having the correct locks fitted brings is something really not worth compromising.
Again September proved to be a busy month for your local LockRite Locksmith and below are few examples of the day to day jobs that have been completed this month in the CM and SS postcodes.
01-09-14 Called to a property in Hockley where the customer was locked out of their front UPVC door and gained entry non-destructively.
09-09-14 Supplied and fitted a new euro thumbturn cylinder to front door in Dunmow as the customer had their bag stolen containing house keys.
11-09-14 Replaced locks at a property in Laindon for a Letting Agent as Tenant was evicted.
21-09-14 Attended a property in Southend as customers rear UPVC door was jammed shut. I gained entry and supplied and fitted a new lock mechanism.

WHAT IS ‘LOCK SNAPPING’?
‘Lock Snapping’ is a growing burglary technique being used to break into properties up and down the country. This means of entry is worryingly quick, quiet and needs no more than DIY tools. Because of the speed of this type of attack burglars take full advantage and are even prepared to break in to properties that are alarmed as they look for quick access to car keys for example.
HOW ‘LOCK SNAPPING’ WORKS
Standard Euro cylinder locks which are used to secure a vast majority of homes in the UK have a weak point by design and when force is applied they can literally ‘snap’ in two. Now you may think your door with its multiple locking points is secure but it’s important to understand that it’s the Euro cylinder that makes these lock. So the Euro cylinder is the vulnerable point of your door and if this is ‘snapped’ all of the locking points become ineffective and an intruder can be in in a matter of seconds.
WHAT’S THE SOLUTION?
Firstly, don’t panic as there is a solution to protect your home from this type of attack. The solution is to upgrade your standard Euro cylinder to a British Standard cylinder which is anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill, anti-snap, TS007 standard and 3 star kite marked. (these cylinders have the highest industry standards currently available)
If you'd like me to fit British Standard anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill, and anti-snap locks and protect your home from this worryingly quick and quiet break in method just give me a call on 01268 840005 and I will be happy to help.

Thieves are using stickers advertising a fictitious local locksmith company to mark homes which are an 'easy target'. The criminals carry out a preliminary reconnaissance on the area and mark houses which are deemed as having poor security measures in place. They later return to break into the houses which have already been marked as targets. The authorities are advising residents to remove the stickers immediately if they see any on their doors or windows.

The latest UK crime statistics show an alarming rise in vehicle thefts involving the use of a key with 25 percent of all stolen vehicles now being taken with the original key or a cloned copy. It is important to lock your car, even when kept in a garage, and ensure your car keys are kept out of sight from the opportunist thief as a car which is stolen with the use of a key is unlikely to be covered in the event of an insurance claim.
